Annapurna Foothills and the Gurkha Heartland
The Annapurna or ‘The Goddess of Harvest’, north of Pokhara, is the first and largest conservation area in Nepal. It’s also one of the World’s best trekking areas with exceptionally diverse scenery. Numerous excellent trails wind through beautiful countryside with the magnificent mountains as a perfect backdrop. Many small remote Himalayan villages, with spectacular views of the Annapurna’s range, including the Annapurna I and the famous Machapuchare, are home to the ‘Gurung’ people, the fearless Gurkhas of the British Army.
