(Jaipur - designed by a young Bengali architect in 1727, is the only city in the world symbolising the nine divisions of the universe. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City of India. Palaces, Forts, sublime architecture with a strong influence of Hindu, Jain and Mughal styles make Jaipur most interesting. Colourful bazaars and warm people are the pride of Jaipur).

In the evening, witness Sunset Aarti ceremony (Prayer) at Laxmi Narayan Temple (Birla Mandir). A symbol of tranquillity in pristine white, Birla Mandir stands majestically with the backdrop of a hilly landscape. Built with white marble, the architecture of this temple reflects a modern style with traces of the traditional features you would find in a temple. The walls and the pillars of this temple are adorned with intricate carvings depicting quotes from scriptures, mythological events, and symbols, figurines of gods and goddesses and Hindu symbols. B

Hawa Mahal, Jaipur, India.

Day 5 : Jaipur

Early morning enjoy a glimpse of real life in Jaipur. You will begin your tour at Muhana Mandi, a large wholesale vegetable market about 30minutes drive from the city. In the mornings, the market is buzzing with activity as farmers from small villages arrive with their produce. You will also visit an interesting fodder market at Sanganer, where farmers come to buy grass for cattle, and local gwalans (women herders) bring their cows to be fed. Next, we will stop by the bustling doodh-mandi, where milk arrives in traditional cans, and is quickly snapped up by neighbourhood doodhwallas (milkmen) and confectionery shops.

Late morning after breakfast, excursion to Amber Fort where you will ascend this hilltop Fort in a jeep. Also visit the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing.

(The 10th century Amber Fort is ringed by hills, with ramparts guarding all approaches and watchtowers set at strategic points. Windows pierce the high walls at points impossible to break in from the outside, and staircases are deliberately narrow so that they could be held by a single warrior allowing members of the royal family and the army to flee to more strategic locations of special interest in the fort is the Sheesh Mahal or Hall of Mirrors. It is a sumptuous apartment made opulent through tiny mirrors studded into its walls and ceiling. It glows like a jewelled cavern in the early morning or evening light, but with all doors closed and a candle lit at its centre, transports you into the heart of a diamond).
