16-26 March 2022 Special Interest

A Geology Field Trip to Morocco led by Dr Danny Clark-Lowes 16-26 March 2022 Special Interest

This is a small group tour studying aspects of the geology and geography of Morocco, a country rich in geological and cultural interest, set in varied desert and mountainous scenery. We will fly to Marrakech and the next day travel on to Ouarzazate, studying the geology of the High Atlas on the journey. We then explore a number of oases and desert scenery, visiting fossil localities at Alnif and Merzouga before crossing the Middle Atlas to discover the charms of the ancient spiritual city of Fez. We conclude our tour in Marrakech, the medieval city with its walled medina and lively souks. We’ll visit the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque and also the busy markets which are well worth the experience. After two nights in Marrakech we fly back to the UK. OPTIONAL EXTENTIONS. Extended stays in Marrakech with a beach stay at Essaouira or an ascent of Mount Toubkal are available on request.

What our clients say

Sri Lanka was absolutely spectacular, we did the rock (all 1,223 steps) the hotels were brilliant especially 98 acres which we wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you for arranging this for us, we had a great time & would go back to Sri Lanka and this time do some of the coastal towns.
