Day 1 : To Colombo

Fly from London on direct schedule airlines to Colombo.

Day 2 : Colombo and Dambulla

Met on arrival and then a delightful drive through ever changing countryside to spend Three nights at the Wild Grass Nature Resort.

Day 3 : Excursion to Sigiriya & Hiriwaduna Village Experience

Early morning Rock Fortress of Sigiriya built by the patricidal King Kasyapa in the 5th C. AD. See the magnificent frescoes of ‘Heavenly Maidens, and wander the summit with its bathing pools, pavilions and stunning view. Later, visit a typical Sri Lankan village for a fascinating introduction to local culture and indigenous farming practices.

Day 4 : Excursions to Polonnaruwa & Minneriya Game Drive

After breakfast guided tour of Polonnaruwa the Medieval capital of Sri Lanka including: the ruins of the once magnificent King’s Council Chamber, Royal Pavilion and the outstanding sculptures of the Buddha at the Gal Vihara. Afternoon game drive to Minneriya National Park home to vast herds of elephants.

Day 5 : To Kegalle via Dambulla

After breakfast visit the famous Cave Temples of Dambulla with earliest works dating from the 1st C. BC. See the stunning frescoes and numerous fascinating Buddha statues. The view across to Sigiriya is dramatic. Later proceed to Kegalle. Stay at the Rosyth Estate House for three nights.

Day 6 : Rosyth Estate

Relax by the pool or take a walk to the nearby tea factory for a guided tour. There are a range of activities on offer at Rosyth Estate House to keep you occupied.

Day 7 : Day Tour to Kandy

After breakfast leave on a private day tour of Kandy the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, and is a World Heritage Site. Visit the Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and a gem museum, followed by a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. On route back to the Estate House a visit to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.

Day 8 : To the Maldives

Early morning transfer to Colombo airport to board flight to the Maldives. Met on arrival and transfer by speedboat to the intimate Makunudu Island Resort for a six nights stay.

Day 9 -13 : Maldives

Relax, perhaps unwinding in the spa, be tempted by the delicious cuisine or sip a cocktail by the gorgeous pool. Try some of the many activities on offer including: wind surfing, water skiing and big game fishing. Learn to dive and gain a PADI certificate.

Morning sea plane transfer to Maldives Airport to board scheduled flight back to London.
