Day 1 : To Cochin
Fly from London Heathrow to Bangalore on British Airways or Virgin Atlantic.
Day 2 : To Cochin
Arrive Bangalore early in the morning and connect to your flight to Cochin. Afternoon at leisure. Enjoy a sunset harbour cruise, if the tide is right watch the intriguing Chinese fishing nets at work. Two nights at the Old Harbour. B
Day 3 : Cochin
Morning sightseeing of this beautiful port city includes the Mattancherry Palace, Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica & Jewish Synagogue. Afternoon at leisure. Spectacular Kathakali dance performance in the evening– arrive early to watch the actors put on their intricate makeup. B
Day 4 : To Munnar
Wonderful scenic drive to the breathtakingly beautiful hill station of Munnar. Endless expanse of tea plantations, pristine valleys and forest-clad mountains make this the perfect escape. Two nights at either the Windamere or Ambaday Estates. B
Day 5 : Munnar
Morning excursion to the Eravikulam National Park in the Western Ghats, home to the largest population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Afternoon visit a Tea museum, to learn about the history of the traditional ‘cuppa’. B
Day 6 : To Periyar
Morning drive to Periyar (approximately three & half hours driving time). Check in at Hotel Spice Village for 2 nights (Spice Garden Cottage). In the afternoon a short drive of about 2 kms will take you to Kumily for a plantation visit of Abraham's Spice Garden or Kerala Spices And Herbal Garden. Abraham's Spice Garden was established in 1952 and it is one of the oldest and biggest spice gardens in Periyar. B
Day 7 : Periyar
Morning visit to a local village to soak up the lifestyle of the local people. In the afternoon proceed for a 2 hours elephant activity (including elephant ride, bath timber dragging, feeding, shower, photo session and basic commands/communication). B
Day 8 : To Kumarakom
Morning drive through gorgeous lush green countryside to Kumarakom. Remainder of day at leisure. Overnight at the Coconut Lagoon. B
Accommodation: Coconut Lagoon, Kumarakom
Day 9 : Houseboat
Spend the day cruising the backwaters in a traditional rice boat converted into a Houseboat, locally known as Kettuvallam. The waterways are the lifeblood of the area, local commerce revolves around it with boats laden with everything from fish to today’s papers, gliding by! The Backwaters are an ornithologist’s paradise – look out for glorious multicoloured kingfishers. Overnight on an air-conditioned houseboat. B, L, D
Day 10 : To Bangalore
In the late morning disembark the houseboat and transfer to Cochin Airport. Fly to Bangalore Airport and on arrival check-in at Taj Bangalore airport hotel for 1 night. B
Day 11 : To London
Fly to London Heathrow in the morning direct on British Airways or Virgin Atlantic.
