

Day 1: To Yangon via Bangkok (Rangoon)
Fly from London to Yangon via Bangkok on Thai Airways.

Day 2: Yangon
Arrive in Yangon the former capital of Burma and transfer to the hotel. Two nights the Governor’s Residence.
Accommodation: Belmond Governors Residence
Day 3: Yangon – Morning and Afternoon City excursions and Afternoon Tea
Morning excursion to Shwedagon Pagoda, Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha and Kandawgyi Lake. Afternoon visit to Bogyoke Aung market – perfect for souvenirs, paintings, antiques and clothing. Later walk a ‘colonial’ tour from the Sule Pagoda to the vibrant Yangon riverfront, before returning to the hotel for a traditional ’afternoon tea’.

Day 4: To Mandalay – Mandalay Palace, Fort, Temples and Dinner with Cultural show
Early morning flight to Mandalay. On arrival visit Mandalay Palace and its Fort, once a British HQ and renamed Fort Duffrin. Afternoon tour of Mandalay’s beautiful Temples, including Kuthodaw Paya and Shwenandaw Kyaung. See the unforgettable sunset over Mandalay Hill followed by dinner and a cultural show. Two nights Mandalay Hill Resort.

Day 5: Mandalay - Full-day tour to Amarapura and Inwa
A full day visiting the fascinating Monastery’s at Amarapura and Mahagandayon. See monks receiving alms. Then on to the U Bein teak bridge. Next by boat, and then take a delightful horse and cart ride to the former Royal capital Inwa. Visit Nanmyint watchtower, the remains of the ancient palace, Maha Aungmye Bonzan and Bargayar monasteries. View the sunset at U Bein Bridge. Evening market visit.

Day 6: Irrawaddy River Cruise – Two nights RV Paukan - Mingun Paya complex
Embark on the beautiful RV Paukan for a 2 night cruise to Pagan. Afternoon visit to Mingun Paya a vast uncompleted stupa began by King Bodawpaya in 1790.

Day 7: Sagaing and Yandabo visits
Afternoon excursion to Sagaing considered to be the living centre of the Buddhist faith in Burma and famous for its silversmiths. Also visit Yandabo, a village specialising in pottery, and where the peace treaty of the first Anglo-Burmese war was signed in 1826.

Day 8: Pagan – Late afternoon Temples tour
Disembark in Pagan this morning. Late afternoon visit to Pagan’s ancient Temples. Watch the glorious sunset over the Ayeyarwaddy River from a Temple top. Three nights Bagan Lodge.

Day 9: Pagan – Full day Pagan tour
Continue the tour of Pagan – visits will include the Shwezigon Pagoda, Gubyaukgyi Temple, Ananda Temple. Relax over dinner by candle-lit dinner at a pagoda or on the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy.

Day 10: Day Tour to Mount Popa
Full day excursion to the sacred Mount Popa, an extinct volcano. Climb to the top for stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The shrine is dedicated to the worship of the 37 Nats: Burmese ancient animist spirits.

Day 11: To Inle via Heho- Lake tour
Morning flight to Heho and transfer to Inle Lake. Later take a tour of the Lake and see the famous leg rowers, floating gardens, Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda and Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery. Three nights Sofitel Inle Lake Myat Min.
Accommodation: Sofitel Inle Lake Myat Min
Day 12: Inle Lake – Indein Village visit
Morning visit to Indein village with its myriad of ancient ruined, yet still captivating, pagodas.

Day 13: Inle Lake
Day at leisure.

Day 14: To Yangon – Visit National Museum and Farewell Dinner
Morning flight to Yangon. Visit the interesting National Museum to round off the tour. Farewell dinner at Le Planteur. Overnight Governor’s Residence.
Accommodation: Belmond Governors Residence
Day 15: To London via Bangkok
Morning transfer to the airport and fly back to London via Bangkok.
