Textiles & Temples of Odisha and South India Special Interest

Odisha (formerly Orissa) in Eastern India is one of India’s most fascinating yet little-known regions, combining ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples with rich traditions of village craft production and tribal culture. This unique, specially-created tour will explore the extraordinary range of textiles still being made today, and will introduce you to ikat-weaving, natural dyeing, tussar silk production and silk weaving. The tour finishes in Tamil Nadu, where from our base beside the Indian Ocean we visit the ancient weaving town of Kanchipuram, the rock temples at Mahabalipuram and the historic city of Chennai.

What our clients say

We were very pleased with the organisation of our visit to Kamptee. With such short notice, you did a great job getting the contacts with the gentleman, Father Sebasti who in turn made contact with Noel Joseph and in turn George Taj. We were thrilled that our guide Irfan and driver Mr Singh, rearranged our afternoon so that we could wait till Noel could return…
