

Day 1: To Colombo
Fly from London on direct schedule flight to Colombo.

Day 2: Colombo – Walking Tour with Mark Forbes
Arrive Colombo. Met on arrival & transfer to the Galle Face Hotel for one night. Later in the afternoon enjoy a guided tour of Colombo's hidden corners. Mark Forbes or one of his team will take you on a tour of the city's historic buildings before visiting the Pettah Market.

Day 3: To Kandy - Temple and Cultural Show
After breakfast depart for Kandy. Evening visit to the Temple of the Tooth followed by a Kandyan dance and cultural performance. Two nights at the Ellerton Bungalow.

Day 4: Kandy City Tour and Peradeniya Botanical Gardens
Afternoon city tour of Kandy including a visit to the Art and Crafts workshop and the Bazaars. Later visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, on a loop of the Mahaweli Ganga, with its beautiful Orchard House and avenues of double coconut palms.

Day 5: To Dickoya – Drive to Dickoya or Optional Train Journey via Hatton
After breakfast take a splendid train ride to Hatton. (Or drive to the hotel). The views from the rail carriages are magnificent, though at times almost too breathtaking! If opting to travel by train the car awaits at Hatton for the lovely journey to an elegantly restored Planters Bungalow, climbing ever higher through rolling hills dotted with tea plantations. Two nights at a Camellia Hills Bungalow.

Day 6: Dickoya
During your stay at the Camellia Hills, explore the nearby tea plantations where you can see the tea pluckers at work, visit a tea factory, or go for a walk through the rolling green hills. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy a refreshing pot of tea on the veranda.

Day 7: To Galle
Morning transfer by road to the southern coast of Galle through spectacular scenery The journey takes about 6 hours. We could also arrange a scenic air taxi transfer. It is a 30-minute journey by air to Galle from Ceylon Tea Trails via seaplane, landing at the Koggala Lake (which is 15 minutes away from the Dutch House). Two nights at the Fort Bazaar.

Day 8: Galle – Morning Tour
Morning guided tour of this delightful scenic Fort. Virtually untouched by modernisation the Fort still maintains its Dutch Colonial air, visits include the Dutch Reform Church, the Bastions and the National Maritime Museum.

Day 9: To Mount Lavinia
After breakfast drive up the coast, passing by beautiful lagoons and sandy shores. Three nights at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

Day 10-11: Mount Lavinia
Built in 1806 as a weekend home for the British Governor General of Ceylon, Sir Thomas Maitland, the walls could tell many an intriguing story about his liaison with the beautiful dancer, Lovina; and the secret passages built - allegedly – to allow him to visit his lover in secret! Relax with a massage at the spa, unwind in the pool or walk the golden beaches.

Day 12: To London
Transfer back to the airport for direct scheduled return flight to London.
