Day 5: Siem Reap – Angkor Wat
No words can describe the beauty of a sunrise visit to the mystical Angkor Wat. Then explore the incomparable complex, probably the largest religious building in the world. Conceived by Suryavarman II, and generally believed to be his funeral temple, Angkor Wat took an estimated 30 years to build. Unlike all the other Khmer Temples it faces west, and was inspired by 12th C. Hinduism architecture. Today, its symmetrical towers are stylized on the Cambodian flag. Occupied continuously by Buddhist monks, it’s still well preserved and totally charismatic. Intricate bas-reliefs surround Angkor Wat on four sides. Each tells a story but the most celebrated of these is the mystical Churning of the Sea of Milk, located on the east wing.

Day 6: Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake cruise
Boat trip on Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake, the Tonle Sap. First visit Kompong Khleang, explore the canals (wet season) or streets (dry season) of this incredible town. In the wet season, the houses appear to be floating, as water gently laps at the verandas, however, in the dry season lofty stilts are revealed and the houses soar skyward. Visit a pagoda, built on the site of an ancient Temple, to see the wall paintings. Journey by boat to Kompong Pluk, a medieval village, literally floating on the Lake. Space is tight for the residents and animals in this unique place. Next see the flooded forest and finally the floating village of Chong Kneas. Disembark and return to the hotel.
